TEMPORARY FOOD ESTABLISHMENT
GUIDELINES

 

This website is to help guide you in the process of opening your establishment.  It is not all-inclusive and any questions should be directed to Cherokee County Health Department.  There are state and local laws that must be adhered to when operating a food establishment.  Always make sure you check with local health departments as well as city offices to see if they have any additional requirements. 

Complete packets as well as applications can be picked up at Cherokee County Health Department.

Each temporary food establishment must operate in accordance with “single event or celebration” regulations.

These regulations are highlighted below.

 

 

§         Each temporary food establishment shall have a valid permit or certificate issued by the Health Department.

 

§         Each temporary food establishment shall designate a person in charge.

 

§         All food preparation must be conducted on-site or prepared at a kitchen which can be inspected.

 

§         Hot foods must be kept hot and cold foods kept cold.

 

§         Water fit for human consumption shall be provided.

 

§         Hand washing regulations must be followed.

 

§         Food contact surfaces must be sanitary.

 

§         Temporary food establishments shall control access.

 

 

Nonprofit operations with a 50l (C) exemption under the Internal Revenue Code and religious organizations meeting the definition of churches under Internal Revenue Code 170(b)(1)(A)(1) are exempted from a permit fee by law.
